General Information

The Friends of the New Britain Public Library (NBPL) was formed over four decades ago to advocate and fundraise for the Library. Among the group’s main activities are its two semi-annual book sales which have become hugely popular, drawing book-lovers from across the state.

The Friends also manage the Everyday Book Sale, located near the entrance to the Periodicals Room in the Main Library, which is open during library hours. Smaller fundraisers are also held at various times during the year. All proceeds directly benefit the library.

The Friends of the NBPL will hold its regular meetings for
2018-2019 on the following dates:

September 18
October 16
November 20
December 18

January 15
February 19
March 19
April 16
May 21
June 18 (Annual Meeting)

All regular monthly meetings are held in the 3rd floor Conference Room of the Main Library at 5:30 pm except in November, December, January, and February, which are held at 4:30 pm.

We are looking for more NBPL-lovers and supporters to join the Friends. New members and new ideas are particularly welcome. Please fill out our membership form if you are interested, or contact us via e-mail at:
